It's been rather quiet here lately, time has not allowed much musicmaking - apart from the traditional Marxist Christmas songs of course - but I thought I could try to do something I have been thinking of for a while - collecting a few of the many lovely hip-hop tracks with thematics around all those lovely peacekeepers that permeate society to keep us all nice, safe, warm and cosy. It's not really a mixtape as it's just a collection of videos and links of stuff that's available online, but i could have been... So, without further ado:

Akkurat da håpet om en ny julelåt for jula 2009 holdt på å glippe klarte vi å få overført en sang fra vår egen rødnisse på nordpolen via en svak og skurrete satelittlinje. Det får ta ansvaret for lydkvaliteten.

En noe ruskete lyd produsert under kummerlige forhold og 40 minusgrader klarer likevel ikke å hemme den ektefølte marxistiske julegleden som strømmer ut til de tusen hjem via den vakre låta "Red Christmas". Tør vi spå en instant classic?

Vi fortsetter kampen for å ta jula tilbake fra kommers og kristendom, med nye radikale julesanger. Denne gangen har vi i god Dickens-ånd fått et postkort fra jula i gamle dager - nærmere bestemt jula på Cuba i 1958.

CUBANSK JUL: Che og Fidel gir de beste julegavene til Cubas folk når de sparker diktatoren Batista og hans mafiavenner ut av landet.

If you look under my old Interview, an interesting (perhaps, or perhaps not) debate over the political role of hip-hop has emerged between me and Zearle (once known as Zearle of Red Dagger). Basically he thinks I am an uneducated sell-out, and I think he is a US-sentric sectarian. We're probably both right.
